Deadly progress in Australian open tennis tournament

2012 Australian open tennis tournament has progressed to quarter final levels.All the leading men’s and women’s players gone through to quarterfinals. In men’s section there is no major upsets expect Andy Roddick he lost in the second round match. Leading players like Roger Federer, Nadal, Thomas Berdych, Del Potro, Dijokovik, Andy Murrey, David Ferrer and Nishikori (1st Japanese player to enter quarterfinal) enter into quarterfinal level. In women’s section Serena Williams lost in fourth round match against un seeded player.Wozniyaki,Clijsters,Azarenka,Radwanska,Sharapova,Makarova,Kvitova and Errani leading stars entered into the quarterfinal level.

Salman Rushdie live video conference called off

Jaipur: Celebrated author Salman Rushdie’s live video conference at Jaipur Literature Festival has been cancelled following protests by Jaipur-based Milli Council. Several activists of the Milli Council arrived at the venue of the Festival at Diggi Palace on Tuesday afternoon, demanding that the proposed video address by Rushdie be called off, claiming that it was an insult to the Muslims. Despite Rajasthan government supporting the organisers of the festival, the link was called off amidst much drama at Diggi Palace in Jaipur. The owner of the Diggy Palace Ram Pratap Singh said that he decided to not allow the video link fearing violence. Singh said that several people had entered the venue and threatened to take the law in their own hands if the video link was allowed.

Norwegian authorities take away Indian children from parents for being fed by hand

The story of an Indian couple’s children being taken away by Norwegian social services on objections of them being fed by hand and sleeping in their parents’ bed has attracted worldwide attention and the intervention of the Indian government. In May last year, Anurup and Sagarika Bhattacharya’s children three-year-old Abhigyan and one-year-old Aishwarya were taken under protective care by Norwegian Child Welfare Services and they have been in foster care since. Norwegian authorities equate being fed by hand as force feeding and deem it inappropriate for parents to sleep with their children, according to a report Monday on IBN-CNN’s website.

Her family is very poor and cannot even meet their daily needs. She also got two small siblings and her parents cannot afford to give her treatment and looking for any kind of assistance from anyone. A teenager who aged nine became the world’s youngest Microsoft Certified Professional has died. Computer genius Arfa Karim Randhawa, 16, from Faisalabad, Pakistan, died on Saturday night after complications resulting from an epileptic stroke. The Microsoft Certified Professional award is a title given to those who master the company’s programs and is often used by adults to further their careers in the tech field.

US Officials shut down the Megaupload sharing website

Megaupload, one of the internet’s largest file-sharing sites, has been shut down by officials in the US. This site got closed days after thousands of websites (major websites such as Wikipedia) took part in a blackout to protest against the Stop Online Piracy Act(SOPA) and the Protect Intellectual Property Act (PIPA).
